How long does a workplace EV charger install take in London?+
Single-charger installs on an existing three-phase board usually take half a day once the DNO work is done. Multi-bay car parks with new sub-mains, cable routes and load management can run two to five days depending on access and civils. We'll give you a programme at survey stage.
Do I need planning permission to install EV chargers at my London premises?+
Not usually, workplace chargers fall under permitted development if they're for staff or fleet use. If your building is listed, in a conservation area, or the chargers are customer-facing and need signage, check with your borough planning department. We'll flag it at survey if we think you need consent.
Can you install chargers in basement or underground car parks?+
Yes, and we do it regularly across London office blocks and retail centres. Ventilation, cable routes and mobile signal for networked chargers are the usual constraints. We'll assess it on-site and design around what's there.
What happens if our building's electrical supply isn't big enough?+
We'll measure your existing load, check your DNO fuse size, and model what adding chargers will do. If you're borderline, load-balancing chargers throttle back when the building is under heavy draw. If you're genuinely short, we'll price a supply upgrade or a separate feed for the chargers. Either way, you'll know before we start.
