Do you need planning permission for commercial strip-out in London?+
Most internal strip-outs don't need planning permission, but you'll need Building Control notification if you're touching structure, fire compartmentation, or drainage. Listed buildings and conservation areas have tighter rules. We flag issues during the site survey and liaise with your surveyor or architect.
How long does a typical office strip-out take in Essex?+
A 2,000 sq ft single-floor office usually takes 3, 5 days: day one for disconnections and soft strip, days two to four for partitions and ceilings, final day for waste clearance and handover clean. Larger multi-floor buildings or asbestos delays push that out.
Can you strip out a shop while the upper floors stay occupied?+
Yes. We isolate services floor by floor, install dust barriers and temporary hoarding, and schedule noisy work outside trading or office hours. Party wall protection and vibration monitoring are standard on occupied buildings.
What happens if asbestos is found during strip-out?+
Work stops in that area. We arrange an HSE-licensed asbestos contractor, get the material tested and removed, then resume once the clearance certificate is issued. We factor contingency days into programmes for older buildings where ACMs are likely.
